My life has been an adventure, an unpredictable progression of tragedies and triumphs, mysteries and discoveries, temptations and opportunities, seasoned with successes and disappointments. But perseverance, accompanied by a sense of humor, has been rewarded by achievement and happiness as shown by my revealing autobiography. "The first seven decades have been the most fun,"quips Bob Grove about his life. His reflections are entertaining, sometimesbizarre, and always revealing about his character. Whether attempting to make afirecracker, exploring mysterious Area 51, watching himself bleed on a gurneyafter a diagnostic procedure, treasure hunting in Ecuador, dangling over awaterfall by one leg, or breaking into a house to find a body, he manages tofind humor in outrageous situations. Bob Grove reminds us that life is what wemake of it, and his is a delight for his readers." (J.M.) Did I really do that? This question often crosses my mind asI reveal excerpts from this autobiography to the amusement of the audience atmy public readings. Yes, I remind myself, I did inadvertently blow up a water main withdynamite, and I did go treasure hunting in the Andes, and I did accidentallyhang by one foot over a waterfall. I certainly shouldn't be blamed for burningdown the garage when my mother let me play with matches, and I had toagree to testify before Congress following a lapse of good judgment.  As I look back at what life has offered me, and thedecisions that I've made -- some good, some not so good -- I am faced with theinevitable question: If I had it all to do over again, would I make those same choices? You bet I would. When I reviewed the contents of former editions of this compendium of life experiences, it became immediately apparent that subsequent events needed to be added. After all, if my readers enjoyed the highs and lows formerly reported, how could I deprive them of more recent evidence of my lapses of foresight, good judgment, and common sense?  Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Bob now lives in themountains of North Carolina.
