Oiva Herbert (“Herb”) Lindquist was the only child of Finnish immigrant parents. Herb grew up in the woods and lakes of northern Minnesota, where he fished and explored nature. Herb enjoyed a 22-year career at Honeywell, Inc. as a space engineering manager and led pioneering work in human factors. The work of his team gave rise to numerous products and to participation in advanced-systems development including the Apollo Moon Project. Herb participated in studies to define astronauts’ mission role and their display-control interface with equipment. NASA selected Honeywell as the stabilization control system provider; consequently, Herb became the section head of the systems group that analyzed, designed, tested, and released specifications for construction of equipment used on all Apollo flights. In this book, the reader will review with Herb the trajectory of his life and career including turning points, achievements, and triumphs. The reader will be made consistently cognizant of God’s presence throughout Herb’s life and will reflect on God’s divine purpose for both Herb and themselves. Herb’s adventures unfold with a peek into destiny. At age 98, Herb still loves to tell “the story” of his life and of the Apollo mission.
