Finn 5 Stars Mother's Mega Marrow is a charming story penned by Svetlana Kitik with illustrations provided by artist Maura Juliana O'Regan. Intended to spark the passion and interest of readers of all ages with budding green thumbs, this delightful tale takes us into the world of two sweet young children who tell us all about their mother. A keen gardener and a hero of care and compassion in their eyes, the narrative follows their viewpoint as they see Mother grow her impressive Mega Marrow and eventually turn it into a whole host of delicious treats. As her marrow-growing fame spreads, our young narrators are careful to look back on the achievement and remember the most important things about it: being kind to others and the Earth, sharing what you craft with others lovingly, and remembering that even the biggest achievements have to start small. This utterly charming read is presented in a mixture of lyrical prose and semi-rhyme, and also includes links and recommendations to further activities and more fun for ages three to eight at the end of the story. Svetlana Kitik is an author whose charming voice and wonderful ideas I've had the pleasure of encountering before, and I was so thrilled to be thrown back into another whimsical world with this very unique story idea. Back in partnership with Maura Juliana O'Regan for some gorgeously drawn and equally one-of-a-kind illustrations, the result is a feast for the eyes, stomach, and heart. In an age of technological takeover, books that take youngsters back to the joys of the great outdoors are rare, and Kitik makes the muddy toil of gardening look like a graceful and heroic effort with the beautiful wordplay that surrounds Mother in this story. Encouraging outdoor learning is no mean feat either, but every well-place sentence sparks joy and enthusiasm, and the rhymes are left gentle and natural-sounding, never forced. This makes the reading experience easy on the ear, especially for adults and caregivers who are likely to be exploring this lovely story over and over again with their young ones as it no doubt becomes an instant favourite. The activities that the family gets up to are well described and vividly drawn, providing instant inspiration for kids everywhere to want to spend real quality time in the garden with those they love. Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend Mother's Mega Marrow to young readers and their caregivers everywhere for a truly wholesome, educational read about the great outdoors that is tons of fun. Surprising herself, in her later years, Svetlana decided to share her writing and stories with young listeners and readers, for their enjoyment. Being a lover of rhyme helps her stories to shine, with an artful coin of phrase, She even does herself amaze, Rhyming is not just a passing phase, nor a fad or a craze, this is the way she writes and with words plays.. With a few stories ready for sharing, she has decided to be daring and publish.Formerly an educator and accredited counsellor, as well as a Mother, lifetime learner, and lover of language, Svetlana's stories aim not only to delight but also promote positive values and solution-focused approaches, offering a snippet of wisdom and mirth to promote the idea of a better Earth.Having teamed up with the artistically talented multimedia illustrator Maura Juliana O'Regan, Svetlana's stories have been beautifully enhanced with pictures to capture the imagination. It is this particular combination of words and pictures that set her books apart.Adelaide born and raised, well-travelled and worldly, Svetlana is p
