This is the true story of a bedraggled, nearly dead baby pelican the author, Pat Garber, found on an island off the coast of North Carolina. The year was 1985, and brown pelicans were, at the time, on the endangered species list, so taking it home with her was not exactly legal. Not willing to leave it to die on the beach, however, she did take it and managed to revive it. She named it Mulligan the Pelican. This is Mulligan's story, told with actual photographs.
