This is the true story of my family’s daring escape from communist Laos in search of a better life in America. In this book you will see that nothing is impossible if you dream big, work hard, and never walk backward. My dad was a low ranking Laotian soldier who fought alongside the US during the Vietnam War. His fellow soldiers told him about life and freedom in America. From their words he set his mind on bringing his family here, and no matter how difficult the journey became, he never gave up. I hope this book will encourage you to be strong and to hold fast to your dreams. Never forget, you're here in America! This is the land of opportunity; filled with love and generosity. Elizabeth Grizzard was born in Laos in 1975 at a time when her country was being taken over by communists. When she was nine years old, she and her family fled their captors and came to America. Elizabeth now lives with her husband and two children in Spartanburg, SC where she owns and operates a small nail salon. She shares her inspiring story as an eye opening reminder of how fortunate and truly blessed we are to live in America.
