Growing up dirt poor in the 1930's Depression in Vancouver, Canada, was no easy ordeal for the Bergsma family. But no one could ever persuade Andrew Bergsma that his childhood was anything but wonderful. His family experienced God's care and blessing in spite of their hardships, ranging from the food provisions brought into the Vancouver harbor by the Dutch merchant vessels, to playing kick the can in the empty corner lot, to earning their own way for bikes and first vehicles. Life in the Bergsma home was an adventure. But their truest blessing came in the form of an invitation to Sunday School, and therefore, an introduction to the gospel of the grace of God through the Savior, Jesus Christ. This changed each member of the family one by one. The gospel would also shape the course of Andrew's life, as he made a life-altering career decision to cease his master's studies in criminology in order to pursue the preaching of the gospel among his own Dutch people, which would take him to the Netherlands and other lands around the globe. Andrew fondly recalls each phase of his life with interesting encounters and ventures along the way. This is his life story in his own words, concerning God's goodness, grace, and guidance. Enjoy and be blessed!
