Agnes May, 15-year-old runaway from Arkansas, is out on the road in 1964. One of her rides is a vacationing couple from Niles, Michigan, who take her home, eventually adopting her. She finishes growing into a woman, and goes to work in the family business, her dad’s fabrication and machine shop, where aptitude for things mechanical emerges and develops. Moving to a nearby larger company, she quickly rises—a woman in a man’s world. Over time, her employer’s corporate owner, “Big Red” Brumfield, takes note, and promotes her to his home-office team of industrial managers in Sandusky, OH. There, she thrives, for the next decade turning tough challenges into accomplishments—and into profits for Big Red, his wife Collie, and their son Sebastian. Achievements lead to an opportunity to enter the whole new world of wealth, prestige, and social status—the world of the Brumfield Empire. Meanwhile, the family she ran away from all those years ago vividly comes back into her life. Should she allow circumstances to define her—or does she, now an '80s woman, have the personal acumen to establish who Agnes May really is

How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
