It's the little moments in childhood that make the biggest memories. Start a daily ritual by asking your child a question of the day from this journal and record their thoughts and memories as a time capsule of your child's life. Based on your kid's age, they may write their thoughts on their own or may need your help to write them down as they dictate. Their answers to some questions may delight you, surprise you and help you understand your kid better. Let the child's thoughts flow uniterrupted and hold back your comments to see where the child will take the conversation. Some answers may cause you concern. Ask thoughtful questions and seek to understand. Such conversations may help your child process and develop better responses to their situation. If a question does not resonate with your child, please rephrase to make it more relevant. You and your child may interpret a question differently. Do go ahead with your child's way of interpretation. This will likely be more fun and insightful. These daily entries are a wonderful way to remember, relish who your child is and what they wish to be. As the child answers the same question of the day over three years, it will be a fun adventure to see how they change more dramatically in some areas and not so in others. Have fun jotting down your child's memories, feelings and opinions and let their personality shine through.
