HOW TO USE METAL COIL RACKS: These coil racks protect your flatbed bed trailer when hauling heavy-duty metal coils. Learn how to use them when loading coils.
- The first step is to prepare your supplies for securing a single coil on the flatbed truck. These supplies include three coil racks, 4x4 dunnage lumber, four chains and chain binders, a coil mat (if desired), and steel corner protectors.
- The second step is to place the coil mat (if wanted) onto the trailer's floor, where the coil will sit.
- Now, place the coil rack on the flatbed in the same direction as the steel bed of the trailer—straight in the direction of the trailer.
- Place the 4x4 dunnage lumber on the coil rack near the triangle loop. You can also keep a rubber coil pad over it for extra protection.
- Once you've laid everything down, use a forklift, crane, or other equipment to place the coil onto the rack. Set it down slowly so it sits nicely on the mat and the coil rack.
- The final step is securing the trailer's coil using the chains and chain binders.
- Voila, your coil is secured onto the vehicle.
