It mounts easily using the threaded center shaft, which is 3/4" long x 5/16" diameter and will fit through a base up to 9/16" thick. The thermometer mechanism measures 1-3/4" in diameter x 3-1/16" high, including the built-in hanger x 5/8" deep. It comes with a 5-3/4" black tapered indicator hand that measures 3/16" at its widest point and can be cut to length as needed. The temperature range is -40 to 120° F and -40 to 50° C. Batteries are NOT required. The included template is a guide and will need to be sized according to your individual project.
