"This current map embraces Hitler's vaunted 'Fortress Europe,' comprising the Reich homeland and the fringe of conquered and enslaved peoples around prewar Germany. It shows the approaches to Germany in detail, with numerous names that are springing to new prominence and deep meaning in the United Nations' assault." With the end of the Second World War almost in sight, this informative map was published in July 1944 with an article entitled "Landing Craft for Invasion."

An informative and colorful work, this map shows international boundaries as of September 1, 1939, the day Germany invaded Poland, and other boundaries as of January 1, 1938, before Germany seized Austria and Czechoslovakia, in red. Infrastructure advances spurred out of necessity are seen in the form of super military highways snaking their way through Germany and beyond. Canals and railways, too, are shown in great detail.

This map is drawn in Albers Conic Equal-Area projection, which uses two standard parallels between which distortion is minimized, however scale and shape is not preserved.

This vintage historical map is a compelling piece for collectors and those interested in war history, and specifically, the Second World War. It makes a wonderful companion to Theatres of War in the Pacific, published in February 1942.

Printed on high quality thick paper strong enough for display on your wall.

Your map is rolled and packaged in a sturdy tube to protect it during shipment.
