Our premium Belgorod chalk is nearly 100% pure calcium carbonate! It’s composed primarily of calcite, a common constituent of sedimentary rock - particularly limestone. Calcite is found in limestone, coral, sea-shells and chalk. Also, 2 - 4% of chalk can be made of quartz, or other minerals depending on its surrounding geographical features. TEXTURE & FORM
Premium Belgorod chalk is the perfect balance of earthy, velvety and somewhat dusty. However, it’s also very smooth and almost creamy to the touch. It feels and looks almost malleable on the surface, and is quite soft in geological terms. It can be broken by hand with little effort. The earthy feel of the chalk is very clean and pristine.
