“Probably the only book on angels you’ll ever need!” ~Anthony DeStefano, bestselling author of A Travel Guide to Heaven Real angels have nothing to do with the images you’ve seen on holy cards. Their natures are so full of God's holiness that the only adequate image we have to describe them is fire. This book will help you purge your mind of the false images of angels that our culture prefers and replace them with the vivid truths of the angelic world. Natures of Fire will teach you: Nine myths about angels that you should stop believing right now; - That angels were not created to save you from car accidents (although they do that at times); - Why angels don’t actually sing; - The reason why there are no female angels; - The two classes of angels that have wings (and the seven that don't); - Why you must avoid one type of angel if you value your life; - Angel art throughout history: the good, the bad, and the ugly. "I learned so much about angels after reading this book! It makes understanding the nature of angels a little easier through thought-provoking analogies. Every so often, the author's wit and humor would give me a hearty laugh. But the most touching and moving of the author's stories is that of his own close call -- I do believe God and some angel were keeping watch over him to save him from a near-fatal accident. And the world is all the better for it for he wrote a book that should guide every Catholic on how to grow in holiness by knowing, and praying to and with our guardian angel." ~Lilia Borlongan-Alvarez, Catholic Stand "A wonderfully simple, clear, entertaining, theologically correct and comprehensive book on those mysterious spiritual creatures called angels. In fact, it's probably the only book on angels you'll ever need!" ~Anthony DeStefano, EWTN host and bestselling author of A Travel Guide to Heaven and The Ten Prayers God Always Answers "Peter Darcy has written a new book called Natures of Fire: God's Magnificent Angels and Study Guide. This is an excellent book about the power of the prayer and care of angels. At the very core of the book and study guide is learning who angels really are in our lives. Angels are not the false images we have of them; they are real, truthful beings who are praying for us every step of the way. "The book will teach several points including the following: several myths that are incorrect, the reason why there are no female angels, the two classes of angels that have wings and much more. The book will help purge our minds of false images of angels and replace them with the truth of who angels are in our lives. They are God's magnificent angels who are praying for us and who are on our side through life and through prayer. They protect and guide us and are guided by Our Lord and are with us always. "This is the perfect book for home study, on-line study, or church groups. Use this book for your next study to really learn the truth about God's holy angels in our lives. In addition, this is a great gift for a friend who loves angels but does not know the truth about them." ~Anne DeSantis, CatholicLane.com Writing Natures of Fire: God's Magnificent Angels was a labor of love. I simply love angels and want everyone to understand them in a way that creates respect for their power and glory. In a modern media and literary environment where hundreds of books per year bear the title "angel" in them (regardless of source or accuracy) angels have become a trinket of pop culture rather than an awesome mystery of faith. I wrote the first draft of this book back in 2015 and then abandoned it for a while because I didn't think I had the right approach to the subject. (Too academic for a larger audience.) I revisited the book in 2019 and gave it an overhaul in 2020 until it took the form that it is today - an "everything you always wanted to know about angels but were afraid to ask" book. It's my purpose to build faith and appreciation for the spiritual life based on the long-standing Christian Tradition that never fails to communicate the truth of things. As some of the reviewers have noted, the book is thorough, perceptive but not too technical, and full of good images and analogies (with a little humor worked in) that, hopefully, will make it an enjoyable and profitable reading experience. Don't forget that Natures of Fire also has a Study Guide if you want to gain deeper insight or use it for a book group. You're bound to get a lot out of it - enjoy! It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, Always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God, And to praise you without end In your Archangels and Angels. For the honor we pay the angelic creatures In whom you delight Redounds to your own surpassing glory, And by their great dignity and splendor You show how infinitely great you are, To be exalted above all things, Through Christ our Lord. Through him the multitude of angels extols your
