Since the ordination of women into the Anglican Church, the Anglo-Catholic movement has taken a bruising. The Author Writes: Anglican churches in Britain have suffered declines in numbers on two fronts as, in addition to the common numerical decline in most British churches, we have been much troubled and divided over the ordination of women and certain other liberalising and secularising influences. What I believe is now urgently required is a new realisation of our Anglican place as a part of the one holy Catholic and Apostolic church with its scriptural teaching, its seven sacraments, the apostolic succession of bishops, an adherence to the centrality of the Holy Eucharist and the faith and order of the church. I believe that we need to look at every aspect of our church life to ensure that, as we hold fast to the unchanging faith that comes to us from the apostles, we are ready to re-present that faith in a lively and dynamic way to a rapidly changing world. This book looks at the present situation as provisional and encourages us to look at the dynamics within that provisional and fan the flames into a great blaze. This book is written by a traditionalist but those of other traditions will find much that is of interest in it as it sees Catholicity is wholeness and unity in diversity.
