Nibbler and Captain Make Peace is an engaging story that encourages children to think of others and their perspective. The main character, Nibbler, is a beaver who is working on his home when a friendly otter named Captain Hachachacha accidentally causes trouble. Ollie the farm dog helps Nibbler work through his frustration and after cooling down, Nibbler is able to be friends with Captain. Parents and children, alike, will enjoy this playful story filled with important life lessons. "Things to Think About" provides an opportunity to apply the concepts of the story and the helpful Glossary teaches words that might be new in the young reader's vocabulary. Dr. Virginia Smith President, Character First Education General Recommendation As a former teacher who is interested in helping children develop the capacity to make good life choices, I recommend the Bandana Acres series by Kathy J. Perry as a helpful resource to parents. The books are delightfully illustrated and promote good character through fun and friendly animal characters who learn important life lessons. Read the books together and open a dialogue about making choices by going over the questions in the "Things to Think About" section. The time invested in discussing character and using your core values to make good decisions is time well spent. Can he learn how to handle his anger? A semi-retired elementary school teacher, Bandana Acres author Kathy J Perry now enjoys writing and illustrating early chapter books about animals who learn valuable lessons about friendships. Her goal is to help kids enjoy learning to read as well as apply what they've learned to their own lives. Her fun, animal adventures will appeal to first and second-graders and to pre-schoolers as a read-aloud story. Soft, watercolor illustrations have been a source of joy for Kathy to draw and paint.
