What’s the best way to coax two sheep into the back of a Volvo station wagon? That’s the main question on photographer Sonny Littlefield’s mind when she sets out to rescue her father’s prized pets from a butcher’s barn in Little Edge, Maine. In that same moment, an estate attorney’s secrets are catching up with him, and Sonny finds him as he gasps his last words. A string of clues and a mounting death toll point to an unsolved murder that took place in the 1800s. For the second time in a matter of months, Sonny is pitted against a stone-cold killer, with a rival hot on his heels. Both men think she has something they want. Both will stop at nothing to get it. And however much they admire her grit, they think it’s best if she ends up dead.
