Night Terrors centers on Red Creek State Park, which on the surface, may seem like just another ordinary hiking spot, but legend has it, an ancient evil lurks beneath. The story takes place in the year 1969. The main character, Billy Walker, is in 7th grade. Billy is afflicted with night terrors, which are more vivid and longer lasting than the typical restlessness people experience. He has dream of nightmares, and when a member of the Wild Bunch, the group of kids with Billy, discovers a pink rose hair clip in the woods, something evokes in Billy a strong sense of déjà vu. He is overcome with the feeling that this hair clip has something to do with his dreams. Each new find that is encountered by the Wild Bunch leads to even more nightmares and night terrors. The group even discovers a gold locket with an old and decayed photo, locating it draws the group of elites even deeper and more dangerously into the hunt. What began as a search for lost trinkets in the woods has turned into an obsession and nightmare. When the kids associate the barrette with the missing six year old, Red Creek State Park shifts from an adventure location to one filled with fear, mysteries, and increasing apprehension. The feeling of danger is real and the shadows are not to be taken lightly. Soft, dark, nostalgic, and hauntingly psychological, Night Terrors intertwines the psychological fear with the innocence of childhood.
