All organized for you into detailed day-by-day plans. This book details the best lodging choices including hotels, camping options, and VRBO listings, local restaurants and craft brewery recommendations, activities that are fun for both kids and adults, rainy day activities, and helpful tips discovered along the way. Our goal is to help simplify your trip planning by sharing all the details you need for an enjoyable family weekend getaway. Enjoy easy scenic hikes, float a river, try apple picking or antiquing, go mountain biking, pitch a tent, or explore the local shops along a charming Main Street. The North Carolina mountain towns of Asheville, Brevard, and Bryson City provide the perfect combination of outdoor fun, terrific local restaurants and craft breweries, and charming downtowns. Asheville Asheville is an architecturally appealing, fun, artsy town with great restaurants and what seems like a craft brewery on every block. It is the most urban of the three mountain towns, but it’s also surrounded by the Blue Ridge mountains for easy scenic hikes and a river perfect for floating. Brevard Brevard is a charming mountain town filled with shops (including a great toy store), restaurants, antiques and art galleries, and even a gem mine. It’s also home to Dupont State Forest, which offers plenty of hiking and mountain biking trails to explore. The Hunger Games movie was filmed at Dupont where you can visit Triple Falls, the most recognizable mountain scenery in the movie. Bryson City Bryson City is another fun outdoor town and possibly the most underrated. Its downtown offers two local breweries, quaint shops and restaurants, and the Great Smoky Mountain Train Depot resides right in the heart of it. Within a 20 minute driving radius of downtown, you have great lakes to swim or canoe, rivers to raft, and hikes to waterfalls. You just can’t beat it. Where To Stay This guidebook recommends family-friendly lodging choices including hotels, specific condo and cabin listings offered on VRBO, and camping options for each town. We tell you the best area to stay to minimize driving or walking distances and maximize convenience to recommended restaurants and activities. Knowing where to stay is a huge part of making a trip a success. Where To Eat Local dining establishments are highlighted. The kind of places where children are welcome but the restaurant isn't necessarily geared primarily towards kids. You won't find many restaurant chains in our itineraries, just good local food mirroring the destination's culture. This could mean a food truck, a pizza place, or a nice sit-down restaurant, but always delicious. If there are any local brews, wines, or coffee houses around, we'll mention those too. Simplify Your Life Learn all the details you need for an enjoyable family weekend getaway. We've put in the hours to research a fantastic trip, our own families have loved them, and we provide all you need to experience the same.
