Do you suffer from anxiety and don't know how to control it? Do you ever have angry outbursts and want to stop? In our society, most of us have learned to suppress our emotions. In fact, we often use coping strategies-like shopping, smoking, partying, eating junk food, binge watching TV, even getting angry-just so that we don't have to deal with them. But by doing so, we only increase our anxiety. In Not Good Enough: Understanding Your Core Belief and Anxiety, Sabrina Trobak uses practical, mindful activities and strategies to help the reader better understand and manage their anxiety. First, she delves into the importance of understanding and then challenging your core belief. Your core belief-your self-perception-affects your present-day thoughts, actions, behaviours, level of anger and anxiety, and how you deal with your emotions. Your core belief is believing you are "not good enough, not important, not valued" or that you are "good enough, important, and valued." Sabrina states that by understanding your core belief, how it was derived, and how it influences your everyday thinking, you will be able to recognize how your behaviour affects yourself and others, resolve and challenge your unhealthy behaviours, and create a long-lasting change so that you can feel more confident in your daily life. "In her engaging self-help book Not Good Enough , Sabrina Trobak suggests that awareness of one's beliefs can lead to a healthier, fuller life...[The book] promotes self-awareness as a means of breaking free from detrimental cycles" — Foreword Clarion Review ★★★★ "Trobak's self-examination primer is powerful and challenging; she recognizes the impact that parents have in developing one's unhealthy core belief but doesn't focus on blame... With insight, professional expertise and concrete examples Sabrina helps readers gain back understanding and ownership over their core beliefs. An easy 5-stars." - Samantha Corbett MEd, RCC (school counsellor) Not good enough. Not important. Not valued. We probably all know someone who has these deeply held core beliefs. But let's be honest: ALL of us feel this way sometimes, don't we? Even if it's not our most deeply held belief, we could still use some work on it. This would be a great book for you if you have these core beliefs, or if you have clients who do. I particularly loved the chapter on anxiety, and also absolutely LOVED all the exercises. I mean, I'm a therapist and some of these exercises really hit home & gave me new perspectives. My only very small criticism is I thought the book could have used a little bit more editing - there was some repetition and denseness that could have been tightened up. But seriously, no matter because the info, the graphics and the exercises are really great. The author came at these beliefs in a unique way that I think will be very helpful to folks with these core beliefs. -therapybooknook Sabrina Trobak is a registered clinical counsellor with British Columbia Association for Clinical Counsellors, a clinical supervisor, and a member of the Canadian Counsellors and Psychotherapy Association.
