Firefighters Nozzlehead, Halfcap, Scout and their fire dog help neighbors and assist the communities of Warmville. They find a home for the lost kitty and return their new friend. They also assist grandma when she requires medical attention and they discover that some fires can be safe as the crew investigates the cause of the smoke they see billowing from a neighborhood. The illustrations by Dodot Asmoro are once again too incredible to describe. This is a must have book for any toddler and even the toughest of firefighters out there. Nozzlehead's Adventure "Helping Hands" is Book 2 of a 3 book series written by a Professional Firefighter who shares scaled down versions of 911 calls that he has been on. Book 2 picks up where book 1 left off. At every fire house around the USA and the world, firefighters and kids go together like peanut butter and jelly. Their curiosity about our profession, the fire engines, aid cars, fire poles and bunk beds all lead to a very excited visit to each station. We love the opportunity to share, teach, encourage and engage with them and to promote safety.  Nozzlehead's Big Adventure was written to share these adventures with the kids that want to continue this connection even after they leave our station. Through Nozzlehead, they can maintain that connection, and even take it one step beyond, by seeing what it's like to be on an emergency call and to help others. I wanted to drive home some very important safety messages and couldn't do it all in one book so Book 1 is the beginning of the process.  Kids love firefighters... until we put on our masks. Suddenly, you can see the expression in their faces turn to panic and fear. Our faces are covered, our voices are muffled and our equipment begins to make noises. Often they flee to the safety of their mom or dad. The concern we have with that is, should we ever need to rescue them in a real fire, they will hide or run from us.  In Book 1, I focus on the Characters, the fire engine, the excitement and the kitty. The reader can see the kindness in the firefighters and sees them as their friend and role model. Book 2, we continue and show the aid car, doctors, responsibilities, more of the fire station and finally a return of the lost kitten. In Book 3 we bring them all together and show these same characters putting on their masks and equipment to make a very big rescue. After the rescue, we then show them with the masks off, so the readers can make the connection to the friendly firefighters they have come to know. I have also included a "Theme" for each book to underscore some of the attributes that you will find in the field of firefighting and we encourage kids (and adults) to practice.  Additional books will discuss light social issues, differences in peoples sizes and cultures, and many more topics for the reader to contemplate and of course the big topic, "What is a Firefighter?" where we break it all down for them. Nozzlehead Books is dedicated to teaching young children about the world of firefighting. Many aspects of this profession can be very exciting for them, while at the same time, cause a degree of uncertainty and anxiety with our loud sirens, flashing lights, firefighting clothes and air masks. Slowly, we will integrate all of these aspects into our books so that ultimately, your child will recognize us as friends should they ever have the need to be rescued. The concept behind Nozzlehead Adventure Series Books was to create child friendly firefighter characters, and through the characters, show them what goes on behind the scenes at the fire stations by sharing scaled down versions of actual 911 calls and other adventures. Kids of all ages are enamored with the big fire engines, flashing lights and the sirens as they make their way to their next emergency. Through Nozzlehead, and all of the characters, we bring to life the duties and responsibilities of being a firefighter. Each book has a "Theme" for you to discuss with your child and we introduce both male and female role models. Nozzlehead Books are enlightening, exciting and entertaining.
