The first world war rages on; Otto has a bullet wound in his leg, and Edwin, the enemy soldier whose mercy he now depends on, proclaims that only he is able to fix it. What's more, Edwin declares that they are cousins, and that Edwin was the close childhood friend of Otto's eldest brother and commanding officer, Oberst Vincent Odinkirk. Otto is certain that Edwin is not telling the truth, but he has no choice but to do as his captor says, for now.
