Do you have an interest in the Okinawa martial arts of karate and kenpo? This book spans the history of martial arts in Okinawa starting with Bodhidharma through Sakugawa to Nakamura and ending with Seikichi Odo. This book includes: Detailed Lineage from 525 AD to present - Dojo Information (what to expect) - Basic Fundamentals (pictures included) - Detailed Kata descriptions (no pictures) - Technique Application (pictures included) - Common Japanese Terminology in the dojo - Kata Summary This is the fourth edition of this book in a series of books that span Okinawa Kenpo ( Okinawa Kenpo Karate and Kobudō; OKKKF ), Okinawa Weapons ( Kobudō , OKKKF ), and Hawaiian Kenpo ( American Kenpo-Karate Association; AK-KA ). The main difference between the third edition and fourth edition includes the following: Biography for Jeb Chiles and Craig Moore - Consistency of Kata movement description - New names for some of the individual techniques ( this added 20 additional pages ) This book consist of a combined 140 years of training, practice, and sweat by the authors within these pages. This book will provide new and seasoned students with the knowledge to take them from the very beginning ranks all the way to advanced degree black belts in Okinawa Kenpo. Although this book should be used as a training guide and refresher, it should be noted that it will not teach a student of the martial arts by itself. Because we do not believe that you can learn from looking at just pictures, we have purposely omitted many pictures from this book and have selected several pictures to introduce basic movements and their application. There are several DVDs available of Master Seikichi Odo demonstrating the kata as explained in this book along with videos on YouTube. If you are a student of the Okinawa martial arts, you will enjoy reading about this system. I would not be surprised if you found the system you are studying within the linage presented. It is our intention to do as Master Seikichi Odo wished, "Keep the 'old ways' straight”.
