Do you think blemishes disqualify you from being used by God? In God’s hands, a slave ruled over a nation. A prostitute and her family were the sole survivors of a conquered city. A would-be adulterer became king. And an unattractive woman found her prince. Sometimes I have felt like Jonah, running away from God. I have also been like Moses, trying to reason with God that He chose the wrong person. And other times, I surrendered like Isaiah and said, “Here am I, Lord. Send me.” Like you, I have questioned my abilities and wondered if my past or my inadequacies disqualified me from fulfilling my God-given calling. That’s why I wrote this book—to encourage you that no matter how many mistakes you have made, no matter how incompetent you may feel, God uses flawed people to achieve His purposes.
