Known as the spot where the Pilgrims first set foot on Cape Cod in 1620, it's no surprise that Provincetown, Massachusetts, is a hotspot for tourists as well as hauntings—including over twenty historic, crime, nightlife, overnight, secret, and Truro haunts. Take a stroll along Commercial Street where the historic Lancy mansion is allegedly haunted by an old woman who died in the late 1800s, but due to the frozen ground, she couldn't be buried, so her son kept her propped up at an open window all winter long. Learn about the historic "Black Flash" of Provincetown—a grim reaper-type beast that would snatch children away in the 1930s. From the historic maritime-themed buildings lining Commercial Street to the shores of the Provincetown Harbor, it is clear that there is hardly a corner of the tip of Cape Cod where the paranormal cannot be experienced. "So, now we ghost-ridden New Englanders get to visit another haunted hotspot - the Provincetown neighborhood where, no surprise, there are haunted mansions, inns and maritime sites galore. There's even a phantom train that whoo hoos through the night, heading only the spirits know where. Baltrusis divides his book into sections of commercial, crime, nightlife, overnight, secret and Truro haunts. The book itself is dedicated to the "Lady of the Dunes," an unidentified auburn-haired female whose body was found in 1976 and who now lies beneath a headstone in St. Peter's Cemetery - at least during the day." ~ The Barnstable Patriot's Barbara Clark People who have read all six of my historical-based ghost books and they seem to think "Paranormal Provincetown" is the most entertaining out of them all, even compared to my best-seller "Ghosts of Salem: Haunts of the Witch City."  It's a quick read, but packed with information that you can't find by doing a google search. Provincetown is such a small strip of land, so it's kind of shocking that such a small, picturesque town has so much ghost lore. But, I strongly believe it's equally as "haunted" as my home haunt Salem, which seems to be the Halloween capital of New England. On All Hallow's Eve, Provincetown's Commercial Street was abuzz with both the living ... and the dead. I was on a walking tour with ghost host Jeffrey Doucette, a former colleague at Haunted Boston and co-founder of Haunted Ptown, a tour I helped produce. As Doucette and I crept through the dark alleys of the town, revelers paraded up and down the main drag. "The weather has been a horror show," said Doucette, a veteran tour guide known for his over-the-top theatrics and spine-tingling delivery. He was dressed in a tuxedo, holding a lantern and sporting a skull face-paint job. "Look at 'em," he said with a smile. "The freaks are out tonight." He pointed at the crews of scantily clad trick-or-treaters showing off their costumes. Compared to Salem on Halloween, Provincetown's fearsome phantoms constructed the most elaborate and creative costumes I've ever seen.
