Standing at the edge of a subway platform, Nathan is doing his best to make it look like he's waiting for a train. In fact, he's swirling his head in orchestrated patterns, protecting the word genius from being corrupted in his mind-and in general. It's just another evening in his exhausting search for absolute certainty and safety. An acting student at NYU, Nathan learns that embracing creative uncertainty is essential to his craft-but inside, he's unraveling. Each morning, Nathan spends hours shaking invisible dust out of his clothing that he fears will fall from him as he walks and destroy the sidewalk. He transfers an imaginary orb of energy between his shoulder and his bedroom wall to feel perfectly prepared to make friends at his acting studio. Set against the unpredictable ferocity of New York City, Path Illogical is an intimate and raw memoir about how far one young man is willing to go to ensure every moment along his artistic journey is free of unknowns. Will Nathan learn to accept living a life that is unsure? Or will he continue to walk his path illogical? "An emotional memoir that offers a rare and unflinching window into OCD and what it means to live inside a mind both brilliant and burdened ." - Reedsy Discovery "...Does justice to the realities of living with OCD and with mental health problems generally ... powerfully introspective ." - Independent Book Review "A haunting, transformative read ... should be required reading for anyone touched by mental illness." - Reader Views Nathan is a young memoirist and mental health advocate who studied acting for thirteen years. He seeks to empower and amplify the voices of those who suffer in silence through his creative work and speaking engagements. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in drama at NYU and his Master of Arts degree in nonprofit management from Antioch University. He currently lives in Sanibel, Florida, where he wrote Path Illogical and published the book at the age of 29.
