This is the story of five generations of the Gillespie family of Lawrence County, Alabama. It includes family stories, historical documents and many family photos with some dating back to the 1800's. My Gillespie ancestors were true pioneers and they had many great adventures along the way. I am very thankful to have such wonderful ancestors who fought in many wars through the years to keep America free and to insure that their faith and values were passed down to their children and grandchildren. I hope you enjoy this true account that starts with my grandparents- Percy and Mae Gillespie and goes all the way back to the original James and Jennet Gillespie who landed in Pennsyvania in the 1740's to make a better life for their family. Jennifer Ellenburg Turner grew up in the Morris Chapel community of Lawrence County, Alabama on land that was inherited from her grandfather Percy W. Gillespie. Jennifer is married to Milton Turner and they have two grown sons, Emmett and Michael. Her passion for family history; led to years of research and huge files of documented family history on both her paternal and maternal grandparents and their large families. Due to the help and research of her dear Uncle Flint Gillespie and many other precious family members, she was able to record and document the Gillespie familiy history which includes five generations of the family in Lawrence County, Alabama.
