Along with its modern descendent, Science, academic philosophy has privileged rational objectification and promoted a patriarchal domination of knowledge and reality. Yet the term Philosophy literally means "Love of Sophia, the Goddess of Wisdom'' and connotes a divine feminine Source and methods of knowing. These alternative forms of knowledge include mystical, intuitive, emotional, performative and collective knowledge. The editors see these as forming the enlarged scope of philosophy, born from the love of the divine Goddess of Wisdom. This collection of essays by scholar-practitioners of world wisdom traditions related to the Goddess offers a revision of philosophy for an approaching post-secular and post-androcentric age.
