Piece by Piece discusses the journey and reality of being black, women, and/or queer and the healing and self-loathing process. It is broken down into four chapters titled after the mechanism of building statues: modeling, assemblage, casting and carving. Within those chapters are poems explaining stepping stones in life and the practice of rebuilding oneself. Further exploring the depths of the issues of society through one’s experiences, survival tactics and the intersectionality of identities.
