To mark the Bicentennial of the Town of Greece, New York in 2022, the Greece Historical Society published Volume 1, which celebrated the pioneer families who settled in the area before 1872. There were so many early families still left to explore, that the Society is publishing Volume 2. This new book contains input from many pioneer descendants, including stories and photos that have been provided by these families. Each family’s unique contribution to the Town of Greece has been chronicled in a fact-filled and photo-laden chapter that will serve as a research tool for generations to come. The book’s two authors have spent four years interviewing and researching in order to accurately portray these pioneer families and produce a volume full of local history and genealogy that is a must have for your book collection. Included in this volume are the following 50 pioneer families: Allen, Andrews, Beattie, Beck, Benedict, Blackwell, Bonesteel, Buckman, Budd, Burger, Burns, Michael, Button, Cason, Clarke, Coffey, Combs, Cottrell/Pike, Davis/T. Mitchell, Defendorf, English, Estes, Faker, Fall, Frisbee, Glass, Hadlock, Hannahs, Hickox, Hincher, Hopper, Justice, Keene, Marchant, McShea, Meech, Phelps, Rowley, Ruggles, Sage, Sharpe/George Quinn, Vick, Weitz, Whelehan/John Quinn, Wietz, Williams and Worboys.
