In the first of this series, we hit the streets of Trinidad & Tobago to explore the magic of Carnival. In this whimsical reimagining of traditional mas, we explore its origins and the mysterious characters who bring it to life. From performers to the pavement, rituals to the rhythm, get ready for an enchanting tale that’ll ignite your imagination and awaken the true spirit of what it means to Play ah Mas. Characters included: Baby Doll, Bat, Bookman, Burrokeet, Dame Lorraine, Dragon, Fancy Indian, Fancy Sailor, Jab Jab (Whipmaster), Jab Molassie (Blue Devil), Midnight Robber, Minstrels, Moko Jumbie and Pierrot Grenade. This book isn't just another project—it's a heartfelt love letter from our team at Bright Eyed to our vibrant Caribbean culture. This one's special. It's filled with stunning artwork, rhythmic words, and a hint of that irresistible wajang energy (maybe it's not so different from my other work after all!). The goal? To ignite excitement around the Carnival traditions that are fading from our streets. At Bright Eyed, we're committed to creating products that teach us about us. We're driven to celebrate, protect, and preserve the magical elements that make our island chain so unique. And this book is just the beginning—there's so much more to come, including an immersive experience that'll bring these pages to life. Ready to PLAY?
