With Full Color Pictures “Pray For Kaia" is the story of one family holding on to hope in the midst of pain. This is the true story of Ryan, Leanne, and Kaia Brielle Donovan's life together. The story was told by Ryan in 13 poignant prayer updates written over the course of her short life. These prayer letters have been read around the world, touching the lives of a countless number of people. They expressing love, hope, pain, sadness, confusion, and above all, trust in a good God. Kaia Brielle was born July 29, 2011 with a very rare neurological disorder called Ohtahara Syndrome. She died on August 17th, 20 days later, while dancing to "Wildflowers" in her Daddy's arms. The book includes 13 prayer updates, each with a picture from the day it was written. And it also includes 2 of Leanne’s prayer journal entries. This is a story of sorrow and love mingled together. It is a story filled with real emotion, as two new parents hold onto their hope in God as each new day brings news more painful than the day before. As you read it, you will be moved and you will be left more ready to choose Hope, too. Ryan writes this, "One of the things I've said and I have felt over these last 11 days is that either faith in Jesus is the only thing that matters, or that it is absurd. Either He is up to something that is way bigger than me, way beyond the scope of my understanding, or that He doesn't exist, or at least doesn't care. And with all our hearts, Leanne and I cling to the first option. That He is up to something profoundly bigger than we will likely ever understand. To choose to believe otherwise would leave us angry, bitter, believing there is no rhyme or reason to the pain. But to believe that, in the midst of our pain, that God's purposes are bigger than what we can see, allows us to love in spite of the pain. It allows us to trust that this isn't happening for no reason. That we weren't randomly selected, but that a heartbroken God selected us and selected Kaia because He is doing something magnificent out of the pain. I need to know this pain is happening for a reason, and I am desperate to believe that the reason is love. Somehow."  "Thank you, thank you, thank you to each of you who has read these updates, prayed for our little girl, and loved us. We are so thankful. You no longer need to pray for Kaia, except to tell God thank you for her 20 days of life. She is in the best hands possible now, and God will be a greater parent to her than we have the capacity to be. It's less difficult to comprehend trusting Him with our little girl, and more difficult to comprehend that for 20 days, He trusted us with His little girl." This is the story of Kaia's life. In Pray For Kaia , you'll find a series of letters written by Kaia's father to friends and family over the course of her short life. The letters are a window into one couple's process of love, grief, and faith in a good God. As you read, you'll discover afresh the hope that can be found in Jesus.
