Feeling like you ain’t got a prayer? You do have a prayer. Jesus prays for you. Jesus connects you with the Father. He is rooting for you day and night. He’s been praying for you and believing in you for a very long time now. Jesus has unhindered, direct access to the Father. Jesus wants to help you connect with the Father in the same personal and effective way he does. You can pray like Jesus! On his way to the cross, Jesus prayed for you. An eyewitness named John heard Jesus praying that night, and wrote down what Jesus prayed. His prayer for you is in John 17. What he prayed on your behalf to the Father can change your life, if you let it. And just in case you think that even Jesus has given up on you, you have another think coming! He never, ever gives up on you. He is forever on your side, breaking down barriers to connect you with the Father. I know, because he’s done it for me. In the past, I searched for my significance in what I achieved, yet it was never quite enough. The turning point was the day I listened in as Jesus prayed for me. “I’m… asking on behalf of …those you have given me. They give me glory.” The truth about me was almost too good to be true! I am on Jesus’ heart as he prays for me. Jesus says that I am the Father’s love gift to the Son. That’s how he sees me. I am now beginning to see myself as he sees me. Here are words I now say aloud: I belong to the Father. I am loved and accepted not based on what I do, but on whose I am. I am the Father’s chosen gift to Jesus. He is glorified by me simply because I am his. Since this wonderful discovery, I am reminding myself to stop striving to become significant, and to simply enjoy both my significant God and the life he gives.
