PRESCHOOL FRIENDS A-Z AROUND THE WORLD, (Together In Peace and Harmony, Book 1), Ms. Barnett's first book of this new series is listed as #3 on Amazon's Hot New Releases (April, 2016) in Children's Books, New Experiences. Preschool is the first time young children leave the family nest to experience independence. They learn many things under the kind and loving care of dedicated teachers. Most importantly they come into contact with youngsters of different ethnic, cultural, and religious difference. Preschool Friends A-Z portrays children from all over the world engaged in activities familiar to most preschoolers. The delightful rhyming and superb illustrations invites the young to embrace rather than fear diversity, an invitation that is sorely needed in our world today. Ages 2-5 Preschool Friends A-ZAround The World (Together In Peace And Harmony, Book 1) was written for children, ages 2-5. However we all know that their is a huge discrepancy between the level of development between a two year old and a child of five. Therefore I'm offering a few suggestions on how to utilize this book depending on where your youngster falls on the growth scale. For ages 2-3: 1.Spend time looking at each illustration identifying the main character by name. 2.Identify the letter of the alphabet and link it to the first letter of the character.'s name. 3.Discuss what activities are taking place. This will help your child to form a bond with the main character. 4.Read the rhymes as many times as your child wants to hear them. For ages 4-5: 1.Repeat all of the points listed for ages 2-3 depending on your child's needs. 2.Direct attention to the ethnicity of the main character and discuss country of origin. 3.Perhaps use a globe or map to locate the country and where it is with respect to the rest of the world. 4.Explain the meaning of the main character's name. 5.Focus on the activity being performed and ask if he or she has ever done the same thing in his or her preschool experience. 6.Allow your child to talk about any differences he or she may notice. Encourage questions and observations. 7.Read the rhymes or allow you child to read them independently. Since children ages 2-5 are concrete learners, paperback books are recommended.
