Progressive Greek Vocabulary is published with a great conviction that memorizing Greek words should easy and enjoyable. 365 critically important (or common) Greek words are illustrated and defined with witty and memorable phrases. With these 365 words, students will gain confidence for learning Greek because, as many experienced students already witnessed, PGV makes memorization as easy as simply reading. "It works and it's difficult to forget words after reading them through PGV." Learning requires memorization. Moreover, learning a new language demands students to memorize new and foreign words. Thus learning an ancient language like biblical Greek involves memorizing words that have no practical usage in daily lives. Consequently, this makes learning Greek difficult and unpopular despite the fact that it is absolutely necessary and important.   Fortunately, the current author understands such frustration, and that is where Progressive Greek Vocabulary is first motivated: to make learning Greek words easy and enjoyable so that the students will be motivated to learn the Greek language, the language of the New Testament. PGV has divided into three parts: First, "7 Grammatical Principles" for Greek vocabulary explains how Greek words are designed distinctively. Second, "365 Essential Words" introduces 365 basic and critical words for reading the Greek New Testament. In this main part of the book, the students can learn 365 words with joy, and the creative method used for them shall guarantee longer retention in the memory. Third, "7 Vocabulary Insights" brings practical and theological discussions regarding Greek vocabulary are introduced. Because no one can ever memorize anything that he absolutely has no idea about it, he must first find something that he already knows and then develop a new image and idea from there for the new word. Thus in a way, memorization is an act of connecting "what he knows" and "what he can imagine." PGV has attempted to develop this concept into a practice, simply by telling many good and creative stories that the student may easily associate. The stories are first told through memory tips. Then, they are literally drawn as illustrations. Some stories are witty, and some are simply awkward; nevertheless, they are all memorable. And that is great for any memorization.
