This is the 6th edition of Quick Stats which is a primer or survival guide for students and clinicians trying to learn the basics of medical literature evaluation. This edition still focuses on providing bulleted information for easier understanding of this complex subject. Changes since the last edition include more spacing for note-taking, more clearly defined transitions, examples, illustrations, and practice questions with answers and illustrated explanations. Preface by Karen Oles, PharmD, MS Quick Stats had its humble origins as a course handout for Doctor of Pharmacy students. The book was modified and expanded and now in 2023 a 6th edition has been completed. Quick Stats is more than a statistics book. It is also a guide to study design, medical literature evaluation and epidemiology for all health professional learners. In another sense, it is less than a statistics book because it does not dwell on formulas or derivations. Rather, it is a practical guide for health care professionals or anyone who wishes to understand the fundamentals of clinical study design and data analysis. The format is readable, sprinkled with examples from clinical trials. It includes clinically relevant test questions and answers. Bolded sentences focus attention on the most critical concepts. This book reads like a course handout, making topics easy to locate. The authors point out strengths, weaknesses and limitations of different statistical approaches and elements of study design, making the book feel more personal and meaningful than the usual textbook. Many years of teaching experience and student input went into this latest edition. The 6th edition of Quick Stats will continue to simplify and smooth the path for future learners. Medical literature evaluation is the cornerstone of decision-making in patient care. This book will continue to help health care professionals make well-reasoned, evidence-based recommendations for their patients.

How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
