Almost all travelers these days carry a smartphone. A pen and a notebook can also be useful for later recalling one’s thoughts and the details of encounters or incidents. DB has travelled extensively in Europe, Great Britain, Ireland and Scandinavia. For over thirty years he led Elderhostel and Road Scholar groups of older Americans on tours of Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, England and Svalbard (Spitzerbergen). Before that, he traveled for several months, both alone and with friends, around Europe and Ireland, studying the roots of his family, and he lived in Stockholm for a year and in Hawaii for three. Most of the stories in Rambling Tales Abroad were written about his Elderhostel/Road Scholar travels, while others are based on memories from earlier days. Some of them have been referenced on his weekly podcast “The Hudson Valley Rag Shop.”
