Who is Rancho Meladuco? – Located in the Coachella Valley not far from Palm Springs, Rancho Meladuco Date Farm began with the 4 original trees planted on our ranch decades ago. We shared their delicious fruits with friends and family. Inspired by their “WOWS”, “OOHS and AAHS”. Our founder Joan (a mother of 3, home cook, and backyard gardener) decided to expand and begin farming Dates. We use traditional farming and harvesting methods, and pack each box by hand. We have packaged these “Grinders” (as we affectionately call them) in a portable and compact 9 oz. cup - perfect for school, gym, office and your pantry! These dates are characterized by skin separation, cracking, grazing, scarring, and can also include small or drier dates, and sugaring - sugaring is a naturally occuring condition where the sugar syup in the date flesh crystallizes and creates crystals and sugar crusts in and around the fruit. We call them bonus bits of crunchy sweetness so don't be afraid of sugaring! "Grinders" contain all the nutrients and sweetness of the "prettier" dates but because of their cosmetic "defects" and other attributes we like to use them in recipes that call for dates, blending, etc. but they are great for snacking too and are a wallet friendly alternative to traditional dates found in stores. We know you'll love them too because everybody loves a cheap date!
