White, an early Adventist pioneer, in light of modern medical science. "He considers a variety of factors that will contribute to better health and a higher quality of life, including a simpler, more nutritious diet, exercise, rest, and abstinence from harmful habits. Much of this useful advice, in fact, was recommended long ago (at a time when medicine was influenced by science of varied veracity) by the writings of Ellen G. White, a founder of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and continues to inspire the health mission of that organization." Philip S. Chen, Jr, Ph.D. Associate Director for Intramural Affairs, National Institutes for Health (retired) "When I seek medical advice, I try to find a doctor who keeps up on research.
