"A fascinating and touching story of life in another part of the world. Western people go to the Middle East for a variety of reasons, initially braced by the lofty global standing of their home countries. But life is different in the Middle East region, Westerners must contend with an entirely foreign set of realities. Author Jakob Gentry clearly has collected a wealth of personal knowledge from his years in the Middle East and has thoughtfully shared his insights through the lives and situations presented in this well-crafted story." - Larry Laverty, Wildlife Photographer and Author "If you love action flicks and crave a behind-the-scenes look at a war zone, this book is for you; it reads like a movie. YES. The story includes enemy bombs, murder, a car chase, and government red-tape, which inspires the hero to start snooping and sneaking around. 'Remember Me when September Comes,' by Jakob Gentry, will make you lose sleep and stay up late as you keep reading. It is based on some of the author's experiences during the post 9/11 times in Iraq, when US and other NATO allies were doing their best to bring stability and democracy to the Iraqi people, which makes it even more exciting than those fictional James Bond-type action texts that are so obviously fake. Highly recommend." - Dr Candace Campbell, Award-winning actor, Author, and International Speaker "Jakob Gentry's Remember Me when September Comes is a gripping and immersive tale that feels like it was written for the big screen. With an authenticity that only comes from firsthand experience, Gentry captures the chaos, tension, and humanity found in a war zone, making each page pulse with the intensity of real-life events. From heart-pounding action sequences to deep moments of reflection, this story seamlessly blends elements of suspense, drama, and raw emotion. Gentry's insight into post-9/11 Iraq brings a fresh perspective to the narrative, offering readers a compelling look at the complexities of life in a conflict zone. This book will undoubtedly resonate with anyone drawn to stories of bravery, resilience, and the blurred lines between right and wrong. A thrilling read, and one I highly recommend for readers and producers alike." - David Bramante, CEO of OptionAvenue "Remember Me when September Comes by Jakob Gentry is a gripping and moving read that kept me hooked from start to finish. As someone with a law enforcement background, I found the themes of mystery, friendship, and resilience particularly impactful. The characters are well-developed, which made this book even easier to read. This book is not just a story, it's an experience that lingers long after the last page. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a powerful and thought-provoking read." - Sheriff Brad Lohrey, Sherman County Oregon "This is my favorite book I've read this year! I couldn't put it down once I started reading it. I recommend this short novel for anyone who enjoys reading about mystery, brotherhood, personal growth from hardship, and the reality of life while deployed overseas. It brought back some of my own memories of being deployed in Iraq because of how well the author portrayed the simple moments and interactions that often end up being the most cherished in hindsight. I believe veterans can relate well to the characters and gain valuable insights from this powerful novel." - Brandon Weber, US Army Captain and Iraq War Veteran Here is some backstory information regarding "Remember Me when September Comes" that may interest you. 1. The story begins with a fictitious friend named Scott Sandoval that has died. When I was writing the story I decided to use the name Scott for a main character as a way to honor my friend Scott Avery, who passed away in April 2022. Scott was a very close friend who lived nearby, and he helped me around the place here in Oakdale with several projects, as well as being a buddy to drink beer with and hang out in the pool. Scott is the one who made my windowsills, as well as a bunch of other stuff around here. I have missed him very much since he died. 2. While in Baghdad there actually was an Iraqi guy who came into my offic
