As a kid, I grew up loving the sun-drenched warmth of San Diego beaches--and the spine-tingling chill of horror movies. I vividly remember being creeped out by a scene in the movie, " Salem's Lot " (based on the novel by Stephen King ). A vampire floated outside a boy's bedroom window, scratching at the glass, saying, "Open the window, Mark. Please! Let me in! It's OK, Mark, I'm your friend..." Since then, I've been a huge fan of vampire series such as "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "True Blood" (based on the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris ).
