After witnessing her father's assassination at the hands of Viet Cong soldiers during the height of the Vietnam War, a young girl is whisked away from the only family she knows to start a new life in the United States with a wealthy, benevolent family; but instead of the happy ending Kim hopes for, her new life is a series of traumas and abuses, hardships and heartaches, punctuated by fleeting moments of utter beauty and love, and ultimately met with grace and an undaunted belief in God's love and her own capacity to rise again from every fall. Kim lives in Falls Church, Virginia, where she is an entrepreneur and proud mother of a serviceman in the U.S. Army. Her joy in life comes from being a mother, inspiring others to overcome their difficulties, and living each day to its fullest.
