Bob Romano’s recent book River Flowers is a collection of short stories and fishing tales set in the North Woods of Maine where Romano spends much time during the summer. With a touch of heart, soul, and sense of place these stories of finding love, growing old or just touching one’s inner self in the pursuit of Maine’s splendid brook trout aka “river flowers” take the reader into a special world worth the visit. As with his other books, in true Romano fashion, one can smell the woods, hear the rivers, and just be there in a wonderful world many of us will never experience. With illustrations by his daughter Emily, this collaboration is a true joy. Bob Romano lives in the northwest corner of New Jersey with his wife Trish, and their Labrador retrievers, Winslow Homer and Finnegan. For 30 years, they have maintained a camp in the Rangeley Lakes region of western Maine where Romano has set his Rangeley Lakes series of novels: North of Easie, West of Rangeley, Brook Trout Blues , and the recently published, The River King,/em>. He is also the author of a book of essays, Shadows in the Stream .
