The discovery of a 9th-century carnelian bead from Gujarat in a mass Viking grave in Repton prompted bioarchaeologist Cat Jarman to question the widely held notion that the Vikings†eastern trade routes had little to do with their expansion across Britain. Tracing the bead to its origin, Jarman sheds light on the interaction between the Eastern and Western worlds and reassesses our understanding of the Viking Age. Orders are despatched from our UK warehouse next working day.
