The Sugar Skull or Calaveras, has long been synonymous with the Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead, Dia de los Muertos, or the Roman Catholic All Souls' Day. The uniquely decorated skulls are meant to embody the spirit of the loved one they represent who has passed on.
