Paul’s concern in this section of Romans is God’s current righteous dealings with Israelites and Gentiles as people groups. Israel is referred to by name 12 times; the Gentiles, 7 times; the Church, 0 times. THE CHURCH IS NO WHERE TO BE FOUND HEREIN! Jews and Gentiles are the focal point in every chapter. In keeping with the major theme of Romans, these chapters reinforce the righteousness of God in His dealings with mankind. An overriding principle of these chapters is found in 11:32, For God has concluded them all [Jews and Gentiles] in unbelief that He might have mercy upon all [i.e., Jews and Gentiles alike].
