When I began this collection of books on the Anthroposophy, or Spiritual-Science of Dr. Rudolf Steiner, so as to make the materials more accessible to the English speaking readers by a general overall consistency of terminology along with new translations, and added notes that would give some information on subjects and individuals that I thought would make the topics more easy to understand. As to this volume my original intention was to provide a new translation of the lecture cycle: Philosophy, Cosmology and Religion given in Dornach in 1922; but as I began working on this I realized how helpful it would be for the reader to have some preliminary materials to lead up to this challenging lecture cycle. Therefore, I added new translations of the important short book consisting of three lectures entitled: The Spiritual Guidance of Man and of Mankind, as the first section. And in addition to this, as the second section, I added new translations of three additional lectures by Rudolf Steiner on Rosicrucian-Christian Initiation that I thought would be useful to both deepen and widen the scope of this very profound and concise treatment of such important topics; also an autobiographical sketch by Rudolf Steiner of his life and spiritual development; which is the earliest document of its kind, and is known as: The Barr Document and I have included it in the present volume, along with The Personality of Rudolf Steiner and His Development, by Édouard Schuré.
