Have you ever been nervous about starting a new coloring page? Afraid to ruin a design before you even begin? This unique coloring art journal filled with original line art by artist Susan Carlson gives you the freedom to explore, experiment and test out your ideas on smaller parts of a design before committing to the larger illustrations. With a balanced mix of details and open spaces, the illustrations give beginners and more experienced colorists plenty of room to play inside and outside the lines! Once you fill this book with your own notes and colored swatches, it can be a useful record of how you colored a design that turned out really well, or which blending techniques or mix of pencils and colors gave you the results you wanted. Plus you can apply your notes from this art journal to coloring pages in other coloring books in your collection, too! Volume 3 of the Ruby Charm Colors Adult Coloring Art Journal is a collection of art for coloring that has been created since the Volume 1 & 2 Adult Coloring Art Journals, Insectimaginary, and Oceanimaginary by artist Susan Carlson. This 176 page 8.5 x 11” book features: A velvety, matte black cover with original art colored by the artist and nine selected fan colorings on the back cover. - An Introduction and a few pages of tips. - 42 full illustration plates featuring unique and fanciful line drawings of mainly flora and fauna, 4 fun pattern designs, and multiple designs on black pages. Over 100 pages to color! - Black-backed plates to help prevent bleed-though includes the name of design and a space to write your name if you like to give your coloring away. - Over 42 art journal pages featuring places to write, create and track color swatches, and experiment with colors on pieces of art pulled from the plates so you can truly visualize how an idea or palette of colors will work. - A mandala-style color wheel to fill out using your own pencil brands for better understanding of basic color theory and 16 pages of blank color charts for swatching your favorite pencils and color combos. - 5 blank note pages Colored pencils are recommended for the paper in this book, though watercolor pencils and watercolors are fine in small amounts. Saturating the pages with water are not advised, and this paper is not recommended for heavy markers (especially alcohol based markers like Copics or Sharpies) as bleeding through the paper will occur. The artist/author does encourage colorists to feel free to make copies of the plates (for personal use only) to experiment with color pallets, try coloring on different types of paper and card stock with different media (like markers and watercolor), and to to keep a “clean copy" of the illustration in tact in the book for future coloring projects. The pages in this book are not perforated, but you may carefully score them with a ruler and blade for removal if you like to take your books apart for copying, working on a flat surface, or storing pages in a binder. ______________________________________________________________________ Susan Carlson has been drawing and painting as long as she remembers and finally took a leap of faith in 2017 to focus on her art full time through what she called the RubyCharmColors project which is dedicated to art for adult coloring enthusiasts.
