2025 has marked 1700 years since the Council of Nicaea, so this issue begins with a reflection from on of our two editors-in-chief, Fr. Lucas, on the question of the authority of Nicaea, but as it is embraced within the consecration vows of Orthodox hierarchs. This issues lead article is also on Nicaea and its significance in the Orthodox Church and the Byzantine Empire. This issue of Rule of Faith also features articles that begin with a response to Paul Kingsnorth on what to do when cultural foundations collapse (Fr. Victor Gorodenchuk), an essay on meeting the student where they are, and restoring full personhood to the student (Nathan Friend, PhD), and last an excerpt from Protodeacon Brian Patrick Mitchell's newest book, Christ as Truth, Truth as Christ: Why the Ancients Chose Christ; Why We Must Also. Beyond the four main articles, are new poems from people we have published previously, including three from Matthew Robb Brown, two from Michael S. Sayre, and one from a newcomer, Thomas Barton. We are also including one from Presvytera Elizabeth Scott Tervo’s, Eve in the Time Machine, “Night,” an apt reflection for an end-of-the-year issue.
