SOLO Against his parents’ wishes, rising senior Bryson (Bry) flies to Minnesota for a week-long solo canoe trip into the Boundary Waters. He plans to return before the start of summer football practice. The night before he leaves, Bry and his girlfriend Caitlin attend a bonfire, where alcohol is served in violation of his team’s code of conduct. Bry also learns that Caitlin wants to date “around” during their senior year. A derecho, a storm of high velocity winds, disrupts Bry’s wilderness trek. Concerned about a youth group he met at the outfitters, he sets out to rescue them, acting with personal courage and ingenuity. In the process, he receives some unexpected advice from Susie, a member of the group rescued by Bry. Susie clarifies Bry’s responsibility under his team’s honor code and guides him toward resolving his relationship with Caitlin.
