I would bus from Malpensa airport to the Milan Centrale train station, and overnight in the area before catching a train the next morning to Camogli , a fishing and tourist seaside town on the western side of the mountainous Portofino PeninsulaThis would serve as my base for a few days, and from where I would start my eighteen or so trailheads trekking adventure which upon completion would have taken me throughout the Peninsula, into the Cinque Terre region, and eventually on to Portovenere . In the Cinque Terre area, for the most part I would stay in the town of Monterosso while I trekked back and forth in several hiking configurations over the mountains that separated the five villages and comprise the Cinque Terre. I would also trek to a couple of other reachable destinations such as Bonassola and Portovenere . When I finished this ‘phase one’ of the adventure, I would then travel by train to Sorrento , and from there bus the hairpin-turns road of the Amalfi Coast to the town of Amalfi, where I would continue my mountain trail gallivanting. This would begin ‘phase two’ of my trekking endeavour. As a finale to my trip, I planned to conclude with hikes on the Isle of Capri , and on trails in a couple of the mountainous areas above Sorrento itself.
